Montgomery County Composting Facility, Vandalia, Ohio |
|
(Mr. Bartlett served as Architectural Representative on this Project by Cole Associates)
Mr. Bartlett was the architectural representative on a team of
designers for this unique public/private venture. The facility houses
high-speed composting operation that depends upon a controlled
environment, product preparation, and specific (patented) bacterial
processes to take raw pallets & wood to peat in days. The buildings
required high speed construction (to meet funding grant deadlines),
high air change-over, bacterial control (as well as lab components),
large unencumbered spans for earthmoving equipment, close coordination
with product processing equipment as well as delivery and pick-up of
raw material and/or product, and a facility office and staff support
areas. The solution was a challenging combination of an RCA Dome sized
air dome, a pre-engineered manufacturing plant, and office building.
